Chapter 118 Boarding The Ferry
The loud ring of the phone disrupted the silence.
Maren had just settled into her bed on the second floor of the villa when she noticed Stormclaw’s name flashing on her phone’s screen. She picked up without hesitation.
“Any updates on Mr. Lion?” she asked.
“Still nothing on Mr. Lion, but guess what? I found Isla,” Stormclaw said, clearly excited.
“You found her? How?” Maren’s voice was tinged with urgency.
“I managed to track the transport route for Isla’s group. They’re scheduled to be moved on a ferry leaving from
Grisriver.”
Grisriver?
It was just the next city over.
She hadn’t imagined it would be that close.
“A ferry? Why pick something so out in the open for something as secretive as human trafficking?”
Maren found it odd.
Typically, such illicit activities were stealthily executed. The visibility of a ferry seemed an unnecessary risk.
“Turns out, this group’s too big to move without drawing attention. Just so happened a ferry was booked for a
leisure cruise, so they hid the girls in the crowd and used that to sneak them out.”
Stormclaw found it strange as well.
Maren unlocked Slasher’s phone again and scanned the list. Sure enough, Isla’s group was much bigger than
the others.
“And who’s behind the ferry charter?” Maren asked, sensing a potential setup.
With a lighter tone, Stormclaw replied, “You might find this amusing. It’s been booked by the three deans of the Baimsa Royal Trinity, the dean of Grisriver University, and several tycoons.”
“That many people are involved? Maren asked, frowning.
“That’s right, and it’s a large ferry with several levels. Too expensive for any one person to book entirely, so they’re sharing it. I tried to get us a slot, but it’s already fully booked.” Stormclaw expressed his annoyance. “It
seems we’ll need to use credentials from the Royal Military Academy to get on board.”

“Boarding the ferry under the academy’s name?” Maren asked.
“Exactly. As soon as I got details about the ferry, I contacted Daniel. Turns out the academy set up this cruise as a way for the students to relax after some intense field exercises. They needed a break.”
It suddenly clicked for Maren. Ever since she graduated, she hadn’t kept up with anything going on at the academy. Funny how things had come full circle–now she was on her way back.
Thankfully, there were still ten days to get ready for the return.
Once she finished her call with Stormclaw, Maren reached out to Simon and the others, urging them to meet
her.
Stormclaw was committed to joining as well.
Though the mission wasn’t particularly difficult, it involved Isla’s safety, which made it a priority for Maren. She was resolved to commit fully to it.
The following day saw Maren at the academy, requesting dozens of ferry reservations from Daniel. Though perplexed, he complied and handed over the boarding passes.
