Chapter 57 Finally, They
Were Here
Nadia knew that if she could merely be recognized by someone so influential, it would be a significant victory
for her.
Recalling how someone unremarkable like Maren had snagged an offer from Alberto, Nadia felt a surge of
optimism about her own prospects.
With a burst of enthusiasm, Nadia asked, “Mr. Blake, is the person Mr. Miller is meeting with male or female?”
She wanted to be certain, just in case she needed to guard against another undesirable character.
Westley responded promptly, “A woman, and quite young too.”
Nadia felt a wave of relief knowing it was a woman.
Connecting with another woman around her age seemed far more feasible.
This revelation eased her tension, yet her intrigue about this powerful woman intensified.
So far, there had only been one woman who had ever truly left her in awe.
It was the female racer who had taken out Marcus. Now, Nadia found herself wondering if this new woman might outshine even her.
Satisfied with the information she had obtained, Nadia’s interest in Westley waned, and the atmosphere at the table grew somewhat awkward.
Ashton, skilled at maintaining a light mood, steered the conversation into more neutral territory.
Westley played along, aware that his role was merely to bide time as instructed by Simon.
The table lapsed into polite small talk as everyone masked their private thoughts.
Maren had already joined Simon, and the two of them were seated in a secluded corner of Le Cafe, deep in conversation about business matters.
“So, you’ve secured a wealthy family to back us? They’re willing to fund the recruitment and arming of our people?” Maren asked, eyeing Simon intently.
“Yes.”
Simon couldn’t shake a sense of unease. He had made a bold decision on his own, and it was only now, with everything in motion, that he was finally bringing Maren into the loop.
He had tried reaching out to her a few times since the previous day. However, Maren was unreachable. She had

“I may not be remarkable, but my experience has honed my instincts. I’m not sure of your full backstory, Boss, but your ambitions are clear. It’s those ambitions that led me to push for our gang’s expansion.”
His words were sincere. Simon harbored his own aspirations for greater achievements and believed Maren was
key to realizing them.

placing his hopes on Maren to lead Onyx to the top.
Although the Onyx ranked among the five major gangs in Baimsa, it had always been the most fragile. Simon had played it safe for years, wary of drawing too much attention. But after witnessing Maren’s capabilities firsthand, he had a complete change of heart.
He knew he couldn’t achieve greatness alone, but perhaps Maren could.
“Is this family really going to be a significant asset for us?”
Maren admired Simon’s boldness and vision; it resonated with her own.
“Here in Baimsa, certainly. They have substantial financial resources and even some legitimate contacts. That could really broaden our horizons,” Simon said.
“No problem, then,” Maren responded instantly.
For the gang’s growth, financial backing was crucial.
Lacking funds meant no access to weapons, and without arms, there was no power. Maren’s urgency to reclaim her shares in the Morgan family stemmed from a need to finance her own militia.
“I can approach that guy. He’s interested in a partnership, right? He should give me a competitive rate on arms,” Maren muttered to herself, a sly grin crossing her face as she thought of Sawyer.
“Boss, could you repeat that?” Simon asked, unable to hear Maren’s soft–spoken words and mistaking them for
a command.
Maren quickly regained her composure. “It’s nothing. Let’s go now.‘
”
She stood up and walked out.
Simon was left puzzled by her fleeting smile.
He observed her reaction but chose not to pursue it further. Starting the car, he drove to the Phoenix Palace.
