However, Hansel shook his head. “That won't work. You must remember that Nathan is my disciple. With me around, Boris and the rest won't dare to go hard on him—it'll be difficult to get them to reveal anything.”
“And what if you aren't around?” Camilla pressed.
Hansel frowned. “What do you mean?”
Camilla smiled at him. “Didn't you manage to get out of a meeting with Boris and Clifford just now by pretending that you're sick?”
“If you pretend that you're severely ill to the point of having to take medical leave, all the parliamentary responsibilities will be relegated to your Cabinet.”
“Without you around, Boris and Clifford would do their very best to make things difficult for Nathan and the rest. The crazier they are, however, the more opportunities you have for getting rid of them.”
Hansel's eyes lit up. However, he still seemed a little worried. “But what if they go overboard with it? They might try and rid Nathan of his position and rank without me around.”
Clarissa continued to grin. “Don't forget that the other Cabinet members have been around for a while, and are still loyal to you.”
“Every decision made by the Cabinet has to receive approval from at least seven of them before it can be written into law.”
“Without the approval of those senior Cabinet members, it'll be impossible for Boris and the rest to get rid of Nathan so easily.”
“Oh, you're right!” Hansel laughed.
“Haha! I've learned something today! Thank you for your suggestion, Camilla. We'll do exactly what you said.”
“I'll pretend to be so sick that I can't work, and hand over the responsibilities to my Cabinet. I'll let loose Boris and his cronies and let them wither into their own deaths!”
A few days later, in Channing City in the South, Penny's pregnancy was finally stable.
She was finally discharged from the hospital and returned home.
Benson and Leah personally cooked her a feast to celebrate her discharge.
Nathan, Kylie, and Queenie were accompanying Penny in the living room. As they joked and
chatted among themselves, Penny smiled happily.
At that moment, Ava showed up and said to Nathan, “General, there's something I need to report to you.”
