The next morning, Nathan visited the White House with Colin and the Elite Eight.
Camilla, the First Lady, greeted him smilingly, “Nathan, why are you here so early in the on morning?"
Nathan announced reverently, “Good day, Madam. I'm here to give my greetings to both you and Mr. Windsor.”
Camilla nodded. “Your mentor's term of office will expire soon. Now that he's suffered a stroke, he is no longer capable of governing the country.
“A lot of his subordinates who previously respected him a lot has now resorted to cozying up to Mr. Tucker for a more promising political career.
“Nathan, you're an honorable person. You have come to visit us every day since you've stepped foot in Brimmopolis.”
Nathan uttered humbly, “Once a mentor, always a mentor. Now that Mr. Windsor is sick, I should drop by and check on him every day.” He paused for a while before he continued, “But I suppose that this will be the last day of me visiting.”
“Why? Are you going back to the South?” Camilla asked.
Nathan told her about what he had done the other day at Boris'. Then, he gave her a copy of Boris's incriminating evidence. “I've thoroughly offended him, but luckily, I've gotten the evidence against him.
“I've sent a copy over to the Cabinet, but as we both know, he won't be a sitting duck; he will definitely obtain other Cabinet members'
support to get rid of me.
“Today, either the Cabinet will remove him from office, or they will support Boris in getting rid of me. That's why I said that today might be the last day of me visiting you and Mr. Windsor.”
Camilla looked him straight in the eye while she made a meaningful remark, “Nathan, do not despair. Justice will be served.”
Then, she invited him in, “I suppose that you haven't eaten your breakfast. Come, have some breakfast with me.”
Nathan nodded. “Alright.”
After the breakfast session, he took his leave of Camilla. Before he departed, he made a request, “Madam, should I lose, do take care of my wife and my child.”
To his surprise, Camilla shook her head as she rejected him. “I can't promise you that. You should be the one to take care of your own family. You won't lose. Remember, justice will prevail, and all the morally upright will be vindicated.”
Nathan flashed her a heartfelt smile for her encouragement. Then, he left with Colin and the Elite Eight.
Soon, Nathan arrived at the Cabinet.
All twenty-eight ministers, including Hailey and Will, were already present by the time he arrived.
A myriad of expressions spanned across their faces as they looked at Nathan.
They were all aware that it was a life-and-death meeting for him and Boris.
In the cabinet conference hall, the seat of the President remained empty while five Cabinet members were seated on each side of the conference table.
The person sitting at the head on the left-hand side was none other than Boris.
As Nathan walked past him to get to his seat, the latter sneered in a low voice, “Nathan, you're dead today! If you're willing to make an apology and join my party, declaring that you'll regard me as your stepfather, I can spare your life.”
