Tonight's reception would not only be attended by the Xyperia's Foreign Minister, Leigh and his entourage, Cabinet ministers and other leaders would also be present. Even the First Lady and General of the North would make an appearance as well. Therefore, many Brimmopolis' upper class people were eager to be part of the feast.
How prestigious it was to be able to get up close and personal with the cabinet, the First Lady, and even the General of the North. One would be able to brag for the next thirty years!
Hayley felt that Nathan and Penny were just a bunch of powerless nouveaux riches who were really eager to attend the reception. They probably saw this as the fastest way to get to know the company of powerful leaders.
She said with a snobbish smile, “If the two of you
are willing to kneel down and beg me, that might make me happy and I'll bring you in!”
Nathan replied coldly, “We don't need you to bring us in, we can enter ourselves. Besides that, it's better for you to put away your shrew behavior in front of me; otherwise, I'll have to teach you another lesson.”
Upon hearing that, Hayley burst out in anger and was about to throw her tantrum.
However, she was held back by her husband, Kerk.
He raised his hand to adjust his spectacles, then glanced disdainfully at Nathan's group and scoffed, “Hayley, don't lower yourself to the standards of these nouveaux riches. They can never be on the same level as us. Let's hurry inside, if the General has arrived and I'm still not there to interpret for him, I'll be in great trouble.” Hayley agreed and replied, “Yes, that's right. It's important for us to meet the General now and we don't have the time to waste on these nouveaux riches.”
After having said that, they were ready to go inside.
Before leaving, Hayley turned around and sneered at both of them. “Penny, Nathan, we're going in then. Make your way in as soon as possible and I'll be waiting for you inside. I'm just afraid that you might not even be able to pass this entrance, I'll be too disappointed then.
Haha.”
Upon saying that, she went inside with her husband smugly.
