Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 1818

Whoosh!

Instantly, Ceaser's bodyguards, subordinates, and friends crowded around him and yelled, “Put down the gun! Don't you dare harm so much as a hair on Mr. Goldstein!”

Whoosh!

Corey's friends and subordinates rushed forward to surround him too. Pointing at Ceaser and his men, they shouted, “What do you people think you're doing? Don't you dare do anything reckless!”

Two camps had sprung up around Corey and Ceaser respectively. A fight was about to break out at any moment.

Ceaser sat on the sofa with his arm around Barbara. He looked rather dazed as he looked down the barrel of the gun that Corey was pointing at him.

The next moment, he had snapped out of his daze.

Laughing lightly, he said, “Look at you, Corey! Oh, the man you are today. Don't you remember how frightened you used to be whenever you saw me? I see you've finally grown a big enough pair of balls to point a gun at me!”

“But do you really think you have the right to fight it out with me?”

“Will you believe me if I told you that you'll collapse in front of me before you even have the chance to shoot?”

Corey was furious. The murderous glare on his face cut a stark contrast with the pleasant smile on Ceaser's. He clicked open the safety notch of the revolver and snapped, “No, I wouldn't!”

Leaser continued smiling at him. “Well, you're free to try me.”

Corey's gun remained pointed at Leaser's head. Icily, he said, “I'll count to three. If you don't let her go by the time I finish counting, I'll paint the walls with your brains.”

The tension in the room rose further at Corey's words.

Everyone gazed with fear at Corey and Leaser, wondering what was going to happen.

Silently, they all thought it would be a travesty if the two of them really got into a fight. If Young Mr. Lucas shot Mr. Goldstein to death tonight, the entire Eurasia would be rocked by a huge scandal tomorrow morning.

In a monotone, emotionless voice, Corey counted, “One...two...”

At 'two¹, his voice started trembling a little.

Even his hand that was holding the gun shook slightly.

However, he continued to glare at Ceaser without the slightest intention of backing off.

Ceaser's expression was grim and unforgiving. Likewise, he displayed no intention of moving from his spot. In fact, he didn't seem to consider Corey a serious threat to his life at all.

Corey was now trapped between a rock and a hard place.

Since Ceaser was so unafraid in the face of death, Corey had no choice but to press on in his suit.

A sudden, crazy thought popped up in his head. Since you refuse to back down, and I can't go back on my word, then I'll just let you die.

He parted his lips to say 'three', his finger tightening around the trigger of the revolver.

At that moment, however, the crowd stirred.

One of Leaser's subordinates rushed forward before he could lodge a bullet in Corey's head.

Corey's head felt as though it was spinning. A man in a suit and a ponytail suddenly appeared in front of him like a specter at a feast.

Shocked by his sudden appearance, Corey pointed the gun straight at the man's chest instinctively, preparing himself to shoot.

However, the man moved even faster.

Bang!

The man in the ponytail raised the beer bottle in his hand and brought it down hard on Corey's wrist.
