Thomas' laser vision remained burning on Shane. The former had worshipped Nathan since the very beginning. He even regarded Nathan as his god, one to be served faithfully for all eternity.
“Who do you think you are? You'll soon regret what you just said!” Thomas was beside himself.
The mere mention of breaking his god's legs was beyond blasphemy.
Shane's expression grew aghast as Thomas spoke and walked toward him.
Shane's underlings attempted to stop Thomas. “What do you think you're doing?”
“Protect Mr. Lennox!” another man yelled while attempting to shield Shane from Thomas' impending strike.
Within minutes, Thomas' men swiftly maneuvered in such a way that had all of Shane's dozen or so men wailing and moaning on the ground.
Shane was horrified by the rapid unfolding of events before his widened eyes. “Thomas, you should know that Nathan is no longer the General of the North. And with Mr. Davier hunting him down sooner or later, don't you see his days are numbered? This is the time for you to take the right stance, to recognize that Nathan is not someone worth sacrificing your life for!”
Thomas was unfazed. His voice was chilly. “The general and I go way back and I've sworn loyalty to him for as long as I live, rain or shine! We've been through countless battles and bloodshed. I would stare death in the eyes, let alone you and Davier!”
Shane's heart sank as Thomas' voice grew colder and more dangerous as he spoke.
Before Shane could respond, Thomas waved his hands at his men. “Enough nonsense. Time to serve him well.”
A few men charged forward at Shane, who was immediately pinned onto the ground while his own underlings lay helplessly like the survivors of a shipwreck.
A moment later, Nathan could hear the sound of bones cracking in Shane's arms and legs.
Nathan's brows furrowed slightly but he did not stop the men. He asked for it.
Seeing Shane had gotten what he deserved, Thomas turned around to Nathan and said politely, “Mr. and Mrs. Cross, please get in the car. I'll drive you back to your residence.”
Nathan nodded and sat in the Rolls-Royce.
