Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 1928

Webb's men flinched under Ava's murderous glare, but Webb himself seemed unfazed.

He turned to Penny and gave her that irritating grin of his. “Are you sure you're not going to have a chat with me, Ms. Smith? I have information on your husband, you know.”

Huh?He has information on Nathan?

Penny's jaw dropped, and so did Ava's.

Penny had spent the past few weeks waiting anxiously for news on her husband, and Webb's words piqued her interest immediately. “What? You have news about my husband?” she blurted.

“Of course!” Webb said, grinning. “Why else would I come all the way here to look for you?”

“Tell me! What happened to him?” Penny asked hurriedly.

Webb chuckled. “You haven't heard anything from your husband ever since he was recalled by the North Army, have you?”

“Get to the point!” Penny snapped, her face paling.

Webb glanced around at the people in the room before training his eyes on Penny again with a smirk. “I do have news on him, but I'm not sure if you can take it.”

“What?” Penny shrieked. “What happened to him? Did he get injured?”

Webb laughed. “I would have told you if you didn't threaten to throw me out. Besides, why are your guards being so hostile towards me?”

He took a step forward and laid his hand on her shoulder. ‘TH be staying at Aegean Hotel for the time being. Come to my room tonight and I'll tell you what happened to your husband.”

Penny flicked his hand away in disgust. “What the hell are you talking about? I'm not going to a hotel with you! Just tell me what happened to my husband!”

Webb shrugged. “I just wanted some privacy. It's up to you if you want to come, but you'd better not regret your decision.”
