Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 1935

Over at Cross Group chairman's office, Penny was having a hard time contemplating her next step.

She rested her head on her hand as she sat by the table.

Things had been topsy turvy for the past month. She spent her days worrying about Nathan, only to receive news that he had gone missing.

Just as she thought things could not get any worse, people started gossiping about Nathan being a deserter, and now the Goldsteins were waiting to deal her a final blow. She felt she was on the verge of breaking down under immense pressure.

Knock knock!

The door opened and Kylie came in with a cup of coffee in her hand. She walked over softly and place the cup on Penny's table.

“Are you okay?” she asked gently.

Penny cocked her head and smiled weakly at her. “I'm fine, don't worry about it.”

Kylie sighed as she looked at her wasted cousin. “Penny, I heard people saying Nathan was a deserter...”

Penny grunted and nodded in distress. “Yes, I'm aware of that. Those people are making baseless accusations to damage his good name.”

“I know. Nathan will never do something like that. I believe in him. I'm just worried that he might have run into some trouble. The war has already ended in the North, but we still have no clue of his whereabouts,” Kylie replied.

A trace of worry filled her watery eyes. “Yeah... That's exactly what I'm worried about. Nathan is the God of War, the hero of Eurasia, but he has many enemies both within and without the country. They are ever waiting for an opportunity to ensnare him. I really hope he's not in some deep trouble. He has not contacted me for a long time, and no one from the army has any news about him.”

Kylie went over and patted Penny on the shoulder tenderly. “Don't think too much, Penny. I'm sure Nathan will be able to face whatever comes his way. What we need to worry about is Webb Goldstein. Has he been bothering you?”

Penny rolled her eyes at the mention of that name.

She had already dealt with him once yesterday, but she did not expect him to come back and harass her again today.

This reminded her of what he said in the morning. If she refused to go to the hotel, he would send the article to the publishers and TV stations by tonight.

That would be the end of her.

Yet Penny also knew she would be walking right into his trap if she went to Aegean Hotel. Webb must have had all his men ready over there.
