Accepting the report, Luther read through it swiftly.
When he came to the course of action taken, his eyes bulged out. Shock and anger battled for dominance in him as he mentally cursed,Luke Harper, you little shit! Anybody could tell you're deliberately going against the company when you take such serious actions for such a minor infarction! Of all the companies you could have gone against, you just had to go after Nathan Cross' wife! If you have a death wish, that's your problem. Just don't drag me down with you!
He started cursing Luke Harper quietly.
Focusing his attention back on Nathan and Penny, he made a promise, "Mr. Cross, Ms. Smith, don't you worry. What Luke Harper did towards your company was basically an abuse of authority. I'll see that the appropriate measures are taken."
Nathan stated, "That's not the only problem; there's something wrong with his report too.”
Penny and Luther were both confused, but it was the latter that questioned, "So the workplace accident wasnotdue to the negligence of safety protocols?"
Pulling out his phone, Nathan played a video for them to see. It was a video recording from one of the surveillance cameras of a shop near the construction site.
In the video, a tall and thin man could be seen climbing over the fence as he snuck into the construction site. Several moments later, one of the tower cranes crashed to the ground with a loud rumble. After that, the same man could be seen climbing back over the walls in a panic before he slunk away.
When the video finished, Nathan explained, "The man is Chien. As you have seen for yourselves, the police and I were able to find strong evidence pointing at him sabotaging the construction equipment. Unfortunately, by the time we found him, he had already been murdered."
Penny's eyes were wide as she exclaimed, "That would explain how a perfectly fine crane would malfunction. Somebody had been trying to sabotage us!"
Her husband nodded in reply before turning toward Luther. "The team Luke Harper headed was not only negligent in their duties, he has also abused his authority to bully our company. I hope Director Ortis can give me a satisfactory response today."
Luther was sweating profusely. He had not expected this workplace accident to be a sabotage on Cross Corporation. Then again, he also had not thought that Luke would be so foolish as to go against this company.
