Sage led his entire platoon and marched towards the cafe with vigor and menace.
He had just received the news that somebody from the Davier family intended to harm the Chief Military Governor.
Upon hearing that, he hurriedly assembled three thousand men and roused their bloodthirsty rage to come to the location of Chronosphere Coffee House.
Just as he was about to storm the cafe, his phone rang.
Sage stopped and signaled for his men to do the same.
The number on his phone belonged to the captain of the National Guard. Sage hastened to
answer it.
The angry voice of Colin Dunne filled his ears. “Sage, what are you doing?” Colin yelled. “Who gave you the authority to summon the Felidae Battalion and lead them out onto the street?”
“I just got word. Somebody wanted to harm the Chief Military Governor.”
“It's a tiny matter!” Colin shouted. “The Chief Military Governor would be able to handle it himself. Your assistance is not needed! Storming the platoon up and down the street for a minor issue. You will be charged for public disturbance!”
“I... I...” Sage stuttered in self defense.
“The Chief Military Governor wants you to stand down, and you'd better do it fast before the townspeople get upset.”
“I will do as the Chief Military Governor orders.
Since he's no longer in harm, this won't be necessary.
He ended the call and turned around. “Men, I've received orders for us to stand down.”
“Stand down!”
The three thousand men retreated as quickly and orderly as they assembled.
Several minutes later, the street showed no sign of ever having the military on them.
Sophia stood flabbergasted in the cafe.
They were here, but why did they retreat without doing anything?
