Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2034

Raida sneered, “Still trying to act tough?”

He took a sidelong glance at the people and said in a condescending voice, “The Chief Military Governor is here to take care of some business, so I'd advise you to leave right now if you don't want to be tainted by blood.”

The crowd instantly panicked. “Since this is between you and Nathan, we shall take our leave then.”

All the teachers and students stood far away as they did not wish to be attacked by mistake.

Jaeden and his wife, too, apologized to Nathan and ran away with their son.

In the blink of an eye, everyone else escaped except Penny, Kylie, Queenie, Colin, and Ava.

Nathan turned around and smiled at Penny. “Move back a little, honey. Bring Kylie and Queenie with you. I don't want you to get hurt.”

Penny was about to burst into tears.

She carried Queenie in her arms and said in between sobs, “How can you still smile so calmly?

“I'm with you. He can torture and kill us, but I don't care. I want to be with you.”

Queenie, too, cried, “Mama and I will stay here with you, Papa.”

Kylie bit her lips and said, “We're a family. If he wants to kill you, he might as well kill us too.”

Penny held Nathan's hand tight and said steadily, “We'll die as a family.”

Upon seeing the ladies' reaction, Colin and Ava exchanged glances and were tongue-tied.

Nathan, too, was at a loss for words.

It looks like they really thought Raida is the Chief Military Governor. And they seem to think I'm in deep trouble for offending him.

Nathan smiled and consoled Penny. “Don't worry, honey. Have faith in me.”

“And this dude is not the Chief Military Governor,” Nathan explained, “His men are not from the Felidae Battalion either. They're all impostors.”

“So I'll be fine, and we're all going to walk out of here alive.” A corner of Nathan's mouth quirked up. “Step back. Let me take care of him.”

Penny still found it hard to believe Nathan.

“You're not just saying this to make us feel better, aren't you?”
