Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2039

At the Davier residence, Clifford sat on his armchair and listened to Spook's updates. No one could tell what Clifford was thinking, as there was no expression on his face.

Raida, who kneeled before him, trembled in fear like a lamb waiting to be butchered.

He was surrounded by the important members of the Davier family, their subordinates, and their servants.

Spook took a deep breath and said, “Nathan also wanted you to know that he'd be happy to teach the Daviers a lesson if you're not capable of doing so...”

Upon hearing that, Clifford's face turned pallid. “How dare he.”

Everyone lowered their heads and kept mum.

They all knew Clifford was not in a good mood, and no one had the guts to offend him.

Suddenly, Clifford's brother, Valois, appeared, looking dispirited.

“Clifford!” Valois greeted.

Clifford responded in a cold voice, “How's your useless and embarrassing daughter?”

He was referring to Valois' daughter, Sophia.

Valois hated the way Clifford described his daughter but could only swallow his pride and remain silent.

After all, Clifford was the patriarch of the Davier family.

Besides, all the Daviers would still have to rely on Clifford to maintain their wealth and prestige.

Valois answered awkwardly, “She's awake now, but she locked herself in the room and cried for a long time.”

He immediately shot a sullen glare at Raida and said to Clifford, “We've been trying to forge a diplomatic relationship with the Chief Military Governor through marriage.”

“And Sophia admires the Governor so much that she wishes to marry him. There's nothing wrong with it, isn't it?

“The only thing that went wrong was she was duped by an impostor!” Valois exclaimed.
