“Hubby, what happened to that guy?” Penny came up to Nathan and asked softly.
Nathan looked in the direction where Nine Swords ran away, and replied calmly, “I defeated him three years ago, yet he had no idea it was me until today.
“He was under orders to kill me tonight, yet suddenly realized I was his past nightmare.
“I guess he broke down completely because of extreme fear and anxiety.”
It finally registered to Penny and the rest about what happened after listening to Nathan's explanation.
As if he wanted to express his feelings, Colin added, “No wonder General always taught us not to be afraid when we were in the military.
You said that we would lose forever once we are afraid of something or someone.
“I guess this poor guy's life would be dominated by his eternal fear of General.”
Nathan interrupted, “Anyway, he doesn't deserve our sympathy. Let's move!”
Once he finished, Nathan and the rest hopped into their cars and left the place.
Not long after they left in their cars, Shae came down the building with her subordinates.
She couldn't help but seethe as she looked at the dead bodies on the floor and the direction where Nine Swords ran away.
“Isn't Nine Swords a strong fighter? Why would he go crazy once he saw Nathan, just like a rat
facing a cat?”
One of her subordinates suggested cautiously, “Ms. Shae, Nine Swords has always been aloof, so many of us think that he is mentally ill. However, we didn't expect that he would go crazy at such a critical juncture.”
Shae said furiously, “Damn it! Nathan is lucky to stay alive today.”
Her subordinate added, “Ms. Shae, Nathan doesn't hold any positions anymore, and so he is nothing but a figurehead. Instead, Mr. Davier, as the Cabinet secretary, is at his prime.
“The Davier family would perish Nathan sooner or later, and so we don't have to rush into it
now.
Once the subordinate mentioned Clifford, she recalled the Eternal Toil that she forcefully took away from Ghost King tonight.
Immediately, she said, “Uncle loves to collect ancient abstract paintings very much. I'm sure Uncle will be pleased once he saw the abstract painting that I seized. Let's go home and hand the painting over to Uncle.”
When Shae arrived at his house, Clifford hadn't gone to bed and was still reading a book in his study.
