Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2088

Scout began his military training at an early age. He studied military tactics amongst other things.

Enrolled in the most prestigious military academy in Eurasia, he had graduated from the academy and was immediately promoted to major upon enlistment at the age of twenty-two.

And exactly two years after, he went through promotion after promotion to become a majorgeneral.

Without a doubt, he was a rising star within the military.

Some people were even speculating that Scout could potentially be Eurasia's top military commander one day. The entire Davier family's hopes and dreams for glory rested upon his shoulders.

At that point, he was already the proud son and emblem of his family. When Scout became a major-general, Clifford was still struggling.

It can be said that Scout's meteoric rise through life is nothing short of a talented genius.

Clifford, on the other hand, was down-to-earth and believed in hard work. He believed in delayed gratification, by reaping the rewards in one's old age. Shortcuts and early fame were deplorable to him.

Nothing is inherently wrong with delayed gratification. Success at a young age was a recipe for disaster.

Scout's ego began to surpass his skills. All that he chased for were glory and prestige. Until one day, his pride became his downfall when he received heavy punishment for serious negligence during a mission.

Even after the incident, Scout didn't feel any remorse.

His commanding officer demoted him to the lowest possible rank in a fit of rage.

Actually, it wasn't malicious intent. All he was trying to do was to toughen him up.

But he did not expect to receive the full extent of Scout's sense of pride.

He resigned upon learning of his demotion.

Despite the advice of his numerous acquaintances, he could not be persuaded to change his mind.

After voluntarily discharging himself, he left the country.

Abroad, he founded a company providing security advice and products to smaller nations in the West, catering to their military needs.

He did this for 20 years.

Today, Scout is the military advisor for dozens of small nations. He also helped designed and maintained many of their defensive forces.
