Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2280

What?

Nathan's expression darkened.

“Didn't I say to punish anyone that causes trouble in Eurasia? Didn't I say to let the authorities penalize those two? How could the detention center release them?”

Colin responded with a bitter smile, “I was angry too when I first heard the news, so I called Oliver, who was in charge of the detention center.”

“What did he say?"

“Nothing. He only told me that they were following standard procedures and that we from the military have neither the right to intervene nor the right to probe.”

Nathan frowned. Logically speaking, there's no way a mere chief of the detention unit would dare to do something as outrageous as this!

“Did you not tell the detention unit that it was an order from the Chief Military Governor?” Nathan asked.

“Mr. Cross, you've always told me to keep your status as the Chief Military Governor a secret and do things quietly. So I didn't mention anything about a Chief Military Governor wanting them to be punished when I sent them over.”

Nathan nodded in response. He did not blame Colin and said calmly, “It's not your fault. I believe there's someone higher up pulling the strings here. A mere officer like Oliver wouldn't dare do something like this.”

“I'll look into it immediately to see who it was that had the guts to ask Oliver to release the people that the Chief Military Governor wants to punish.”

“There's no rush,” Nathan said. “I'll head to the detention unit later and check this Oliver out. I'd like to see just how brazen the man is to release prisoners and call out the military.” “Yes, sir!”

When Nathan and Colin came out of the study, the family had already finished their meal.

Queenie came over and asked, “Papa, Mama and I are heading out for piano lessons, but there aren't many parking spaces there. Can you drive us?”
