As the convoy was moving steadily, Penny felt slightly nervous. After a while, she whispered to Nathan. “Hubby, who are they?”
Nathan replied calmly, “They are Tim's subordinates!”
Feeling bewildered, Penny asked, “Who is Tim?”
Nathan responded, “Tim Teaman. He used to be one of my subordinates in the North Army and performed outstandingly on battlefields.”
Now, Penny finally understood why they respected Nathan so much.
Their boss used to be Nathan's subordinate!
However, doubt began to grow again in Penny's mind. If Tim Yeaman was once Nathan's subordinate and was outstanding on the battlefields, why did he leave the army? All the more so, why did he leave his country and come to Jetroina instead?
As Penny was deep in thought, Nathan said with a tinge of sadness, “Tim is a rare talent in the army.
“Unfortunately, he doesn't have a happy childhood. His mom passed away following his birth, and his dad died soon after.
“As such, his grandpa, grandma, uncle, and other relatives accused him of being a jinx, hence his nickname— Lone Star. They even claimed that his family and friends would die because of him.”
Penny frowned upon hearing it. “How superstitious!”
Nathan added, “Tim Teaman was disliked by his relatives. In the end, his maternal grandma and grandpa adopted him. However, both of them passed away in an accident a few years later.”
While Penny's eyes widened in disbelief, Nathan continued calmly, “Hence, Tim has been very independent ever since he was young. With the assistance provided by some welfare organizations, he successfully graduated from junior high school. However, he remained aloof and refused to make friends. Deep down, he was worried that anyone close to him would die. Eventually, a monk told him that becoming a soldier could change his fate. Hence, he decided to join the army and became part of the North Army.”
Feeling fascinated by the story about Tim, Penny asked curiously, “In that case, he had become successful after joining the army and had a lot of achievements. Besides, I'm sure that he had a lot of comrades in the army. Why did he leave the army and the country, and come to this place?”
Nathan heaved a sigh and said, “The rumor about the Lone Star has imprinted on his mind since he was young. As such, he firmly believes that he is the Lone Star. In other words, he is destined to live alone, for those who are close to him will eventually die.
“It's true that he trained hard in the army and became brothers with his comrades.
