Marshall took aim at Kylie's head as his finger rested on the trigger.
Yet right before he took the shot, he moved his gun slightly, redirecting his aim to Nathan, who was sitting beside Kylie.
His original plan had been to kill Kylie first before Nathan, but Marshall then figured he should first eliminate Nathan.
After all, Nathan was Eurasia's God of War and could well dodge the shot once he was alarmed. Hence, despite how tempting it was for Marshall to see the shock on his face when he saw the woman beside him die, Marshall still decided to err on the side of caution.
It would be better to go right for his target and make sure the mission was accomplished.
On the other side of things, Nathan sensed danger in the air as he sat in the cafe. Given his extensive experience as a soldier, he had a hunch that something was about to happen.
Alarm bells began ringing in his mind as his gut told him there was a sniper around.
A cold glint flickered in his eyes.
Without warning, he suddenly tilted his head backward.
Bang!
In that split instance when Nathan shifted his head aside, a bang sounded from afar as Marshall fired.
“F*ck!” Marshall was not expecting Nathan to suddenly move.
As an experienced sniper, he could tell from Nathan's sudden motion that he would miss the moment he fired his gun.
Unlike other gunmen who needed to wait till their bullet hit to know if they had succeeded, Marshall was experienced enough to know he had messed up his task the very moment he pulled the trigger.
He had been confident that he could vanquish Nathan with just a single try, yet when Nathan leaned backward out of nowhere, Marshall was irked.
