Penny and the others were waiting anxiously when Nathan arrived home. It turned out that Kylie had already filled them in on the sudden ambush that happened that evening.
When Penny saw him, she rushed over and pulled him into her arms.
Nathan caressed her silky hair, comforting her, “I'm fine. Don't worry.”
Penny was relieved to see him safe and sound.
She quickly went to get a bath ready
for Nathan.
After he bathed, the couple went to bed.
Nathan took the opportunity to tell Penny that a national hero was returning to the country after twenty years.
He told her the military would be holding a solemn reception and that he would have to be there in person as the Chief Military Governor, which meant he had to go to Brimmopolis soon.
Penny was worried when she found out about it. She cuddled in Nathan's embrace, saying, “When will you be home? Come back once you're done with work. Queenie and I would love to spend time with you.”
“Sure,” he replied with a smile, tugging her into his arms.
This sent a flush of heat spreading across Penny's cheeks. Her long lashes brushed quickly on his skin as she drew closer and whispered in his ears, “It's my fertile window these few days.”
Right after she said that, she pulled the blanket over her and hid her face in embarrassment.
Nathan was startled for a second, but a smile slowly curved his lips, and he slipped under the blanket as well.
The next morning, Nathan stationed the Elite Eight and Ava in Channing to keep watch on his family before he left for Brimmopolis with Colin alone. He wanted to keep a low profile as he returned to the city.
They took Firedrake One and departed for Brimmopolis from Channing military district.
On the plane, Colin handed Nathan a phone courteously. “I’ve already gotten to the bottom of who those people were. They were called the Hyenas back in Ariarica. As for their leader, it's one of Ariarica's first-generation super-soldiers. They called him Arch Fighter, and his name was Marshall. This is his phone. There are a few numbers saved in it. One of them is the Military Intelligence Division’s number. There's also something queer. He called a number a few times, but it seems like this person is not part of Ariarica's military. I think this person is a spy in Eurasia. This person is probably Marshall's main contact.”
