Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2380

“You can just speak freely to me, Mr. President,” Nathan assured.

“All right. I suggest making him the Assistant Chief Military Governor. This means two Gods of War will be leading the army. Both of you will make a powerful duo. I'm sure the country will go to greater heights under both of your leadership. What say you?”

Garrett's subordinates were anxious and nervous. All eyes were on Nathan as everyone waited for a response.

As for the officials of the army like Colin and Sage, despite their calm facade, they actually felt disturbed when Garrett made such a request.

What does he think he's doing? He's installing that guy as the Assistant Chief Military Governor?Does he think Nathan is holding too much power on his own? Is he trying to balance up Nathan's power by introducing a new person just to rein him in?Is it because he feels threatened?

Those who had followed Nathan for a long time felt disgruntled.

As for Nathan himself, he was not discontented. He had other concerns and was seriously considering the pros and cons.

Given Nathan’s power, he could well reject Garrett's suggestion of introducing someone as the Assistant Chief Military Governor, but Nathan was thinking of the greater scheme of things.

He wanted the best for the country, so he finally nodded in agreement.

“They always say it’s a blessing to have old people around you because they are wiser. General Quillen used to be the God of War. I’m sure he will have valuable insights and experience to offer. I think it will be good if he accepts the offer to be the Assistant Chief Military Governor. I'll go with your plan.”

Garrett was so moved to hear that he smacked the table. “Great! You've always been the bigger person.”

Garrett's men were also excited when Nathan took Garrett's advice to take Cayden in as the Assistant Chief Military Governor.

As for Garrett himself, he knew Nathan made this decision not because he was trying to win favor with him but rather because Nathan was thinking about what was best for the country.

'Nathan, I know you have labored hard for the country. Being the Chief Military Governor is no easy task.

You're at the helm of the whole army, and you're constantly exposed to dangers for the sake of our country. Thus, the Cabinet has decided to award you a medal of honor for your service to the public.”

Nathan understood Garrett's kind intentions. He must have felt bad for inserting an Assistant Chief Military Governor at Nathan's office. To prevent Nathan from being upset, he awarded him a decoration of bravery and commendable service.

“Thank you, Mr. President,” Nathan said.

The two talked on for a while more before Garrett made a move.
