Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2384

Cheryl took out a handkerchief and diligently wiped the chair before sitting beside Nathan. She stared at him with narrowed eyes before saying nonchalantly, “We used to be classmates, and we could be considered friends after graduation. However, you didn't look for me the last time you came to the capital. I was the one who took the initiative to look for you. This time, if we hadn't met by coincidence, I'm assuming that you wouldn't have taken the initiative to contact me, am I right?”

Nathan chuckled. “How can that be? I've been wanting to visit your house, but I just haven't found the right time to do so."

Cheryl scoffed. “That's an excuse!

Despite knowing that you’re lying, hearing it still makes me happy.”

Upon hearing that, Nathan was unsure how to react.

Cheryl poured herself some white wine in another glass and raised it toward him. “Cheers.”

Although there were ten guests at the table, she only toasted him.

However, the guests knew who she was and could tell that her focus was solely on Nathan, so they did not dare to show unhappiness at her lack of acknowledgment.

Nathan clinked glasses with her.

After consuming another glass of wine, Cheryl's cheeks grew red, which made her seem even more alluring.

As she gazed at him, her voice also became gentle. “When did you return to the capital?”

“Yesterday,” Nathan replied with a smile.

Cheryl looked around and did not see Penny, so she asked curiously, “Didn't your wife come with you?”

“She's in the South. There are matters in the company that requires her attention,” he replied.

She nodded in response.

Nathan glanced at her. “How have you been recently?” he inquired.

Cheryl replied instantly, “Not well!”

After saying that, she even looked at Nathan with slight resentment.

Nathan felt a little awkward upon hearing her response and cleared his throat. He was about to change the topic to ease the awkwardness when a male voice oozing with resentment rang out beside him. “There you are, Cheryl. I've been looking everywhere for you.”

Raising his head, Nathan spotted a furious-looking handsome man dressed entirely in white walking over with several of his men.

The man reeked of alcohol and was obviously tipsy.

As for the men following behind him, their eyes gleamed sharply as they walked with powerful and firm steps, breathing steadily. It was obvious that they were highly skilled in the

Ancient Arts.

Nathan recognized the man clad in white as the direct descendant of the Norris family, one of the five Reclusive Families, and their representative, Hubert.
