After leaving the White House, Nathan returned to the villa that the Windsor family allowed him to stay in.
Back home, Magda came to welcome him. She said softly, "Mr. Cross, a Ms. Stewart has been waiting for you for some time."
Ms. Stewart? Oh, she's talking about Cheryl Stewart.
Nathan's gaze trailed past her and stopped at a gorgeous lady sitting on the sofa. It was none other than Cheryl.
Magda cast a strange gaze in Nathan's direction.
It didn't escape Magda's notice that Nathan was a married man. As someone of the same sex as Cheryl and Kylie, she knew they both had romantic feelings for Nathan.
Thus, she stared at Nathan as though he were a playboy.
It was pretty obvious what she had in mind.
Alas, Nathan couldn't really explain himself and had to let her be.
He removed his shoes and entered the villa. By then, Cheryl had already gotten to his feet. "You're back, Nathan," she greeted him warmly.
Nathan shot her a grin. "Cheryl, why are you here? Is something up?"
Cheryl pouted. "Why? Do I need a reason to be here?"
"Of course not" Nathan answered cheerfully.
Cheryl stopped joking with him. She wore a serious explanation and revealed the reason for her visit. "Nathan, do you know besides the Norris family, the other four Reclusive Families' Patriarchs have brought their top fighters to
Brimmopolis?"
Nathan grinned. "What does that have to do with me?"
Cheryl grew flustered. "Why not? They might seem to be here to celebrate General Quillen's birthday, but everyone knows the other reason they are here -to seek revenge on you. After all, you have wounded their members. They wouldn't let it slip."
Nathan gestured for the housekeeper to pour him a glass of water before turning to Cheryl calmly. "I was merely testing their abilities on behalf of the military. How can they blame me for doing that?" Cheryl replied hastily, "Nathan, so you don't know how serious the matter is. You've offended the Quillen family, and now the four Reclusive Families! They said they want you dead!"
Nathan was amused. "They want me dead? Dream on!"
He was unfazed, but Cheryl was extremely anxious.
She tried to make him understand his situation. "Nathan, there are many capable fighters in the four Reclusive Families. They are capable of turning the world upside down. You shouldn't underestimate them. I wanted to ask my dad to ask President Woods or the Chief Military Governor for help, but he refused to do so. He also told me to stay out of the matter. But this concerns your safety. I'm your friend, so I can't stay out of this."
Nathan grinned. "Your dad is right. You should stay out of this, for I can handle it myself."
Cheryl tried hard to keep her frustration in check. She was about to ask how Nathan would deal with the matter when a commotion sounded outside.
Colin’s voice rang out. "You can't do as you like here. Scram!"
