Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2476

After the speech, Lucas dismissed the troops and invited Nathan to his office.

Nathan rejected him and said, “I'm visiting the West Army tonight to ask how everyone is doing. Since I haven't visited the other base camps, perhaps we should have that cup of tea in your office later. Come. Bring me to the other base camps of the West Army.”

Left without a choice, Lucas brought his subordinates along to bring Nathan around.

That night, Nathan visited all the base camps and met with all thirty-odd thousand troops.

It was only until sunrise that Nathan, Lucas, and the others made their way back to the headquarters of the West Army.

After being served tea by the National Guards, Nathan gazed at Sage, Colin, and Elite Eight. “Please leave us. I have something I need to talk to General Ziegler alone.”

Colin and the others saluted him and left.

Upon seeing that, Lucas also looked at the National Guards standing behind him and said, “Why aren't you guys leaving as well?”

All the troops from the West Army quickly saluted Nathan and Lucas before leaving.

Soon, only Nathan and Lucas were left inside the spacious meeting room.

Nathan raised his hand to take off the Leviathan mask and put it on the table. He smiled and said, “Phew! Now that it's just the two of us, I can finally take this mask off. I feel like it's just a hassle to keep wearing a mask. Especially when I'm with my friends and buddies, I should act more honestly. Don't you think so, Lucas?” Lucas took a glance at Nathan, and he instantly knew what he meant. He's saying that since we're friends, we should cut the chase and leave the fake bullsh*t aside. That way, our friendship won't be affected.

Instead of answering Nathan's question, Lucas said, “Thank you for visiting the West Army, Nathan.”

Nathan looked at Lucas with a halfsmile on his face. “What? Are you angry? Are you feeling uneasy?

Shouldn’t I be the one who's angry? If you were to act on your own and went to battle, I'd have to clean up after your mess, you know? If something goes wrong, we'd both end up being this country's villains.”
