Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2531

As Nathan wondered about the identity of the young lady who spied on him earlier, Colin walked over.

Noticing the mystification in Nathan's eyes, he couldn't help asking softly, “What's wrong, sir?”

Instead of admitting that someone was spying on him just now, Nathan merely shook his head and replied placidly, “Everything’s fine.”

At that very moment, a beautiful Remdikian lady in a princess gown was frantically making her escape with two female attendants.

All of a sudden, a young man in Remdikian military uniform appeared before them and blocked their path.

The man in the military uniform was none other than the favorite subordinate of Gammon the Great and the rising star in the military, Dante.

Dante stopped the lady and deferentially saluted her before remarking, “I've been searching for you for a long time, Your Royal Highness, Princess Sofie. Why are you here?”

It turned out that the beautiful lady was Gammon's youngest daughter, Sofie. She was also the princess of Remdik.

In fact, she was most favored by Gammon among the many princesses.

She heard that Eurasia's Chief Military Governor would be visiting that day and that he was exceedingly mysterious, so much so that few had even beheld his true countenance, for he usually wore a mask whenever he attended any functions.

Out of curiosity, she brought along two attendants and went to his temporary quarters to steal a peek at him. Unexpectedly, she saw him without his mask.

At that time, he was sitting on a bench, smoking. As the moonlight hit him, he was enshrouded in a mixture of light and shadows.

Although she could only see half of his face, she was already shocked to the core.

She initially thought that Eurasia's Chief Military Governor would be an elderly man in his twilight years, but he turned out to be a young man who only appeared to be in his thirties.

That aside, he was even handsome

beyond words.

His thoughtful expression when he was smoking, in particular, had her heart skipping a beat.

She only managed to catch a glimpse of him before she almost got discovered. Thus, she hurriedly bolted with her attendants.

As she was then stopped by Dante and asked about the reason she was there, the crimson shade on her face deepened.

Forcing herself to calm down, she tried her best to put on a nonchalant expression. “I've got nothing to do, so I'm taking a stroll,” she answered crisply.

Then, she asked, “Why, is something the matter that you're looking for me, General Dante?”

Upon hearing that, Dante swiftly replied, “President Gammon would like to see you, Your Royal Highness. As such, I'm here to escort you.”

In turn, Gammon answered casually, “I guess so. Eurasia's Chief Military Governor came for a visit today, you know? Recently, Ariarica joined hands with ten other countries to conduct their military exercises right at the borders of Eurasia. It's clear as day that they’re targeting Eurasia. Eurasia's Chief Military Governor is planning to do the same in retaliation and invited Remdik to join them.”

Sofie listened solemnly and finally understood the purpose of Eurasia's Chief Military Governor's visit.

“Right now, the elders and our generals are arguing unceasingly. Some think that we should strengthen our collaboration with Eurasia and join the military exercise to go against Ariarica. However, some feel that our relationship with Ariarica is already very tense, and there's no need for us to offend them further for Eurasia's sake,” Gammon expounded conflictedly.

“What do you think, Father?” Sofie queried.

Gammon kept no secrets from his beloved daughter, so he confessed plainly, “I can't quite make up my mind, so I’m having a headache! While I want to strengthen our collaboration with Eurasia, I don’t have much understanding of this Chief Military Governor of Eurasia. I have no idea about his capabilities and trustworthiness.”

After taking a gander at the young and handsome Chief Military Governor of Eurasia earlier, Sofie was likewise curious about the man's capabilities.

Is he an outstanding man with real capabilities? Or is he merely a worthless man with a resounding title?

A light bulb went off in her head, and she abruptly exclaimed, “This is easy, Father! You can just test him tomorrow! I remember an ancient saying in Eurasia that one can tell that it's a leopard from a single spot. It means that one could infer the whole picture from observing part of the person. We only need to test this Chief Military Governor of Eurasia and surmise whether he's capable through the test.”

Hearing that, Gammon was over the moon. Grinning from ear to ear, he commented, “Haha, my daughter is indeed smart! Okay, we'll go with your suggestion. I'll gather all military talents tomorrow to test the capabilities of this Chief Military Governor of Eurasia. If he's a hero with outstanding talents, we'll collaborate with him. But if he's nothing special, then we can just forget about the collaboration.”

Likewise, Sofie added with a smile, “If he's capable, then I'll go to Eurasia to further my studies. Conversely, I'll go to Ariarica if he's merely average. It all depends on his performance tomorrow.”
