The look in Nathan's eyes grew colder. “Erwin, what are you trying to say?”
“Well, just like what I've told you. I wanted to find out why the President's illness has deteriorated,” Erwin answered placidly. “I suggest we form a Special Investigation Unit to look into this matter and discover the truth. We shall be fair to the Royal Medical Department as well as Cross Group. Once we know the source of the problem that caused the President to suffer badly, I should think that the culprit needs to bear all the consequences and pay the price for his doing.”
Nathan shot a cold glance at Erwin as though he was casting a look at a corpse. He knew that the latter was seizing the opportunity to make a fuss and create trouble for Cross Group.
If the Special Investigation Unit concluded that the medication was questionable, Cross Group would land itself in a quandary. Penny, who was the chairperson of Cross Group, would inevitably be entangled in it.
In fact, Nathan would not be able to escape from it either.
In other words, Erwin was obviously scheming all these to go against Nathan.
Some of those at the scene supported Nathan, whereas the rest rooted for Erwin.
Those who were on Nathan's side strode forward and objected to the proposal as soon as they saw Erwin's supporters close in on Nathan. To them, setting up an investigation team was totally unnecessary.
On the other hand, Erwin's supporters continued raising a ruckus and taunting the other party to succumb to their idea, insisting that they were feeling guilty for being adamant about the Special Investigation Unit.
In the blink of an eye, a fight broke out between two parties, and it was a chaotic scene.
In the end, Paisley was infuriated.
“Shut up!"
Paisley regarded Nathan with a troubled look. “Um...”
Erwin purposely provoked him, “I know that the chairperson of Cross Group, Penny, is none other than the wife of our Chief Military Governor. Perhaps Chief Cross lacks confidence in his wife and the medication produced by Cross Group. That's why he detests the idea of a Special Investigation Unit.”
Nathan mused, “It's the total opposite. I trust my wife, and I also have faith in Cross Group. However, I'm not confident that your so-called Special Investigation Unit will do a good job.”
Right before Erwin could say something, Nathan continued, “I can say yes to you putting together an investigation team to probe into this matter. However, let me warn you not to take advantage of the President's worsening condition to achieve your hidden agenda. If anyone dares to play cheat in the process or bend the law for personal gain, he shall bear my wrath!”
Nathan's words sent a cold shiver down Erwin's spine.
A lot of Erwin's supporters were also terrified at Nathan's stern warning. They averted their gazes and lowered their heads in trepidation.
