When the people found out that the President was there in person, a crowd gathered around him, and the people refused to leave.
Others who had heard of this news quickly came, hoping that they would get to see Nathan for themselves.
Ever since Nathan was appointed the God of War of the North, many had heard of his legacy.
Those who had never had the chance of beholding this hero had rushed over to see for themselves the God of War, who protected their country and its people.
When they found out that the Chief Military Governor was the God of War, whom they had admired all along, the people were exhilarated.
When he eventually became the President of the nation, Nathan had pretty much gained the approval of everyone in the country, but the public attention that he received was too much for him to deal with.
He had come to Jinrich to settle a pressing issue, and he did not expect the people to be so hospitable.
The people kept pressing in, hoping to see him close up. Under such circumstances, the staff and bodyguards had to open a way for Nathan and ensure that the crowd did not cause traffic congestion.
Before they left, Nathan and Penny waved goodbye to the locals. It was then a haggard woman with disheveled hair came running amok toward the security personnel.
She was shouting and screaming, wanting to attack Nathan and Penny.
Since Nathan and Penny were both important people to the country, Colin, Ava, and the Elite Eight sprang forward to protect them. The other local leaders and staff were all shocked by the scene.
“The President!” Colin cried out.
Before the woman could even get close to Nathan and Penny, two soldiers from the Elite Eight had already stopped her. However, the unkempt woman did not stop struggling.
“P-Please! Save my daughter!” Her cries were audible despite the commotion.
When Quade saw this, he sprang to action and ordered his people to take the woman away. “Quick! Take Sera away. She shouldn't come close to President Cross and the First Lady!” “Yes, Sir!”
The guards went over and dragged the crazy woman away, but Penny was troubled by what she heard.
“Hold on!” Nathan stopped them.
Since the President had spoken, no one dared to do otherwise. The policemen who had the woman halted and turned back.
“Sera came to the police station a few days ago claiming that her daughter was missing. We investigated and found out that her daughter was indeed missing. This case is still under investigation, and we don't have conclusive evidence showing that her daughter was kidnapped. There is also a possibility of her eloping with another man. We were collecting evidence when someone told us that they had seen the girl with a handsome foreigner. We suspect that she must have run away with that man,” Quade explained accordingly.
At this point, Penny could no longer keep her curiosity to herself. “But she clearly said someone took her daughter away. She even said someone has been drinking her blood. Did you look into this?” “Sera has been on medication all this while,” Quade replied. “Her daughter's disappearance only made her illness worse. That's why she's been spewing nonsense.”
The others around him nodded in agreement.
No one had ever heard anything as ridiculous as what Sera claimed.
Although Nathan could not find any loophole in what Quade reported, he still had a gut feeling that this matter was not that straightforward.
Besides, something in his heart kept pointing him toward the person who had been hiding in the dark corner of the alley. He had certainly felt there was enmity coming from his back before that. On top of that, Nathan knew for sure that that person was looking at Penny, but when he turned back, the man had simply vanished out of thin air.
Despite how swift the man's action was, Nathan still managed to catch a glimpse of him. As Sera mentioned, he was a charming and pale foreigner.
Somehow, Sera's story just connected all these dots together.
