Even though Max was contemplating his options in his mind, his expression did not give him away as he continued to smile.
In a flat tone, Max replied, “I am very interested in Lord Antonio's proposal. However, I have already sought Shadow Fang's help in dealing with Nathan Cross. I should think it is not the right way for me to ask both parties to work on the same issue.
So...”
Nikola seemed to have anticipated Max's reply. With half a grin, he glanced at Moab and the pack of werewolves and let out a snicker.
“Admiral Max, do you really expect them to be able to get rid of Nathan? I think it's time you face reality. They will not be able to solve your problems. Vampires will be your best bet.”
The werewolves were not pleased by Nikola's remarks.
Most of the werewolves present were from Shadow Fang.
Gammon the Great had issued a kill order for werewolves in Remdik, and countless werewolves had been murdered. There was no longer a place for them in Remdik.
Hence, they were hoping to help Ariarica kill Nathan so that they could secure a place to settle down in Ariarica, where they would rebuild a place they could call home.
The vampires were essentially driving them to a corner by meddling in the matter.
Moab said curtly, “It does not concern you whether werewolves have the ability to help solve Admiral Max’s problem. Go on and tell Antonio to mind his own business. I will pay him a visit when we are done and dusted with Admiral Max's mission. Oh, do tell him I will chop his head while I'm at it.”
“If you'd really like to kill Lord Antonio and settle scores with him, you'd better hope that you can survive Nathan Cross.”
Moab's gaze turned sharp as a murderous glint fleeted across his eyes. Just when he was about to kill the insolent vampire, Max suddenly uttered, “Don't stoop to his level, Moab.”
Moab reckoned he should let Nikola off the hook, considering that Max had already voiced out for the man. Then, he lowered his hand that was about to strike Nikola.
