Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2781

“Your Grace, are you alright?”

Piero and the others hurried to Szymon to help him up.

Szymon may be physically wounded, but the pain in his pride was much more intense.

He had always discriminated against Eurasians and had, on multiple occasions, insulted them, describing them as useless cockroaches.

Yet, the Eurasian President, Nathan, had utterly crushed him that day.

It got Szymon pale and made him feel nauseous.

Nathan looked relaxed. He kept his hands behind his back and scanned around to see the surprise in everybody's eyes. His gaze landed on Szymon last.

“You lost.”

Nathan's voice sounded mercilessly calm.

Szymon trembled at that, and everyone saw it.

As per their agreement, Nathan would be the winner if he were to defeat all three of them. That would, in turn, allow him to take anything in the castle as a gift.

Naturally, that included Szymon's head.

A hint of unconcealable fear zipped past Szymon's eyes.

What do I do if Nathan were to insist on cutting my head off and keeping it as a souvenir?

Nathan and Szymon looked into each other's eyes. The former's sharp gaze seemed to have the power to penetrate every wall in Szymon's heart and see through his deepest fears.

Nathan grinned and calmly said, “Don't worry. Our bet might be legally binding, but the customs in Eurasia dictate that I must show mercy and should not kill you just because you were rude.

“You are free to keep your stupid head. I'm too lazy to cut it off, anyway.

“All I ask is for the imperial jade seal to be returned to me.

“I should, however, warn you against behaving so arrogantly the next time you run into any Eurasian. If you misbehave again, you might not survive long enough to make up for your poor behavior.”

The citizens of Eagleland were anxious in the beginning. They worried that Nathan would actually do what he claimed and chop Szymon's head off and keep it as a prize.
