Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2789

Penny asked softly, “Hubby, what is it?”

Nathan replied, “It's nothing. I just feel a niggling sense of dread. Nevertheless, I hope it's just my imagination. Since the winds are strong at night, you should go back inside and rest.”

Penny agreed, “Mmm-hmm.”

With that, Nathan and Penny went back inside the ship. Recently, the pregnant Penny had been suffering from morning sickness. Thus, the choppy seas during their voyage simply added to her agony.

Nathan, staying by her side the entire time, cared for her attentively.

It wasn't until Penny had finally fallen asleep that Nathan left without a sound and came up to the deck.

Underneath the night sky dotted with stars, their ship continued to plow on steadily while Nathan's clothes fluttered in the salty breeze.

Colin and four of the Elite Eight stood behind Nathan, watching over him as if they were his guardian angels.

Retrieving a pack of cigarettes,

Nathan took one out and put it in his mouth.

He had barely done so when Colin appeared beside him with a light.

After throwing the former a glance, Nathan lit his cigarette.

Colin inquired softly, “President Cross, is something bothering you?”

Nathan flatly replied, “Not exactly. I just have a hunch that there will be trouble tonight.”

Colin asked in surprise, “Do you think we'll be attacked? We have already changed our course secretly. Logically speaking, there shouldn't be any danger.”

Nathan smirked. “Unfortunately, they're already here.”

Here?

Amidst Colin's furrowed brows, specks of light suddenly appeared in the blackness of the ocean.

Furthermore, the lights seemed to be flying rapidly in their ship's direction.

When he saw the puzzled look on the captain's face, Nathan instructed, “Tell the crew to calm down. I'll take care of our mysterious visitors.”

The shocked Didier looked at Nathan's towering figure before turning his attention to the latter's bodyguards, who were all brimming with murderous intent. It was only then that he decided to trust Nathan.

Nodding, he replied, “All right, I'll order the crew to make preparations.”

He had barely turned to leave when Nathan shouted, “Wait!”

Didier asked in surprise, “Is there anything else, Mr. Cross?”

Nathan answered with a serious expression, “My pregnant wife is seasick. Given how difficult it was to finally get her to sleep, make sure the crew keeps it down so that they don't disturb her rest.”

Didier's eyes, again, widened in surprise.

Despite having our lives threatened by pirates, Mr. Cross is more concerned about his wife's sleep quality than everyone's survival. Isn't he overpampering his wife?

Nonetheless, Didier finally nodded when he saw how fearsome Nathan's entourage was. “Yes. I'll definitely order them to keep quiet and not make any noise.”
