Calmly, Nathan revealed, “I'm here to meet Blackbeard on behalf of the five families. Can you bring me to him?”
The man wearing an eyepatch said, “Sir, you might not know this, but Blackbeard is the leader of the biggest pirate crew on the island. He's known for being hot-tempered. If I bring you to him without reason and invoke his wrath, I'll be in deep trouble! I'm afraid of angering him!”
“Money works miracles. Perhaps you can be more courageous this way,” came Nathan's calm reply.
With that said, he fished out ten gold coins and tossed them at the man's feet.
The man wearing an eyepatch and his lackeys immediately went on their knees to snatch the gold coins like a pack of hungry dogs.
“They are mine!”
“Don't take this. It's mine!”
“Stay away from the coins! Do you want to rebel against me?” The man with the eyepatch gathered all the coins and pocketed them happily.
Nathan asked him plainly, “Are you
bolder now?”
The man smirked. “Of course. I'm much more courageous now, Sir. Let me bring you to Blackbeard now.”
Soon, the man wearing an eyepatch brought Nathan and Ava to the tallest building in the town.
It was surrounded by high walls and was equipped with an observation tower. Armed men patrolled the area with AK47 rifles slung around their chests.
This wasn't a residence; it was a military-style fort.
The man brought Nathan and Ava to the entrance of the castle.
At once, a two-meter tall man with his torso bare stopped them with at least a dozen armed men behind him. His arm had a tattoo of skulls and venomous snakes, and there was a scar on his face.
The scarred man gazed at Ava sharply before turning to look at Nathan. “Why are you here?” he demanded icily.
