Salute To The General (Nathan Cross) novel Chapter 2886

Nathan was initially against bringing Kerry on his rescue mission on the Ghost Ship, but after listening to her words, he thought she had a point.

Perhaps she is right. Her expertise with locks will come in handy on our way forward.

However, Nathan remained doubtful of Kerr's abilities as he gazed at the inexperienced-looking girl before him.

“Though you are a disciple of the God of Thieves,” he said, “you may not have fully learned his skills. Why should I trust you?”

“How did I infiltrate The Dishonorables' office, break open their safe, and steal their money if I don't have skill?” Kerry replied confidently.

Nathan laughed. “Since you're so confident in yourself, you'll get a chance to prove yourself.

“I will give you a simple test. Pass it, and I'll bring you along to the Ghost Ship on the rescue mission.

“If you fail, however, you'll wait wherever is comfortable for news of your master's safe return.”

Kerry gave him a haughty glare. “Fine,” she said with uncharacteristic solemnity. “Test me, Mr. Cross. I simply must prove my prowess.”

Though Colin and Kraven did not speak, their curiosities were, at that moment, piqued.

I wonder how Nathan is going to test Kerry?

“See the driver in front?” Nathan said to her. “He is the Captain of my National Guard, the Deputy Commander of the Capital Garrison of Brimmopolis, and my best soldier, Colin Dunne.”

Kerry turned to Colin in the driver's seat, whose gaze remained fixed ahead as he carried out his duty. “Nice to meet you, General Dunne.”

“Do you see the black briefcase next to Colin?” Nathan continued.

Kerry's gaze fell to the unassuming-looking briefcase next to Colin at those words.

It was the briefcase Colin took with him every day when he left his house, which was also bulletproof to function as a shield in emergencies. Colin could deflect bullets for Nathan if the need arose.

Furthermore, the briefcase stored a revolver, a dagger, spare parts of a sniper rifle, emergency communication devices, and emergency medical supplies.
