This time, Kaiden was the one who initiated the attack.
“Killer Cardinal, huh? Well, I'll be the one to kill you today!” he yelled while pouncing at Laura.
Due to his lightning speed and the low visibility in the rain, all everyone could see was a blurry figure charging through the rain.
The bishops and warriors standing next to Laura gasped in shock as they rushed forward to intercept Kaiden.
However, Laura stopped them and said coldly, “This battle is between me and Kaiden, so you guys can stand down. He's too powerful for you guys to be of any help anyway. You'll only increase the casualty count if you try to fight him.”
Being proud bishops and warriors of the Curia, they were unhappy when Laura told them to stand down.
Even so, she outranked them as a cardinal, so they had no choice but to obey her orders.
As for Sevan, he never liked the members of the Curia, to begin with.
He believed that the Curia was the main reason Queenie got targeted, so he didn't want to interfere with Laura and Kaiden's fight at all.
While no one was paying him any attention, Sevan quietly made his way back to the BMW and stood next to Kylie and Queenie, protecting them.
Laura had just finished ordering her subordinates to stand down when Kaiden swiped at her chest.
Kaiden's claws were so sharp that they made a whistling noise while cutting through the air at high speed.
Had Laura not reacted in time, she would have had her stomach sliced open on the spot.
Fortunately, Laura had lightning-fast reflexes and delivered a palm strike in response. Both of their palms ended up colliding with each other.
Bam!
A deafening noise rang out, and Laura found herself being knocked back a little by the shockwave.
Kaiden, on the other hand, was screaming in pain while jumping up and down.
The fur on his palm was instantly burned to ashes when their attacks clashed, and his palm felt like it had suffered second-degree burns.
After taking a moment to regain his composure, he glanced at his palm and saw that it was severely burned.
Kaiden glared at Laura in shock and anger, only to see her smiling gleefully at him.
Upon taking a closer look, he saw that she was wearing a thin pair of gloves that the Curia had specially designed for combat.
They were made out of mithril and were incredibly durable, which made them perfect for fighting members of the dark clans.
Despite being able to do a huge amount of damage to members of the dark clan, mithril was an incredibly rare metal, so mithril weapons were few in number.
The Curia only had a few of those mithril gloves in stock. Because Laura had contributed greatly to the Curia, they gave her a pair of those gloves as a reward.
