Lux and the other vampire princes stared at Max in utter disbelief. “What?”
“Did you just say the Patriarch wants us to find the Four Human Spirits and conduct the ritual to awaken him?”
“That's right. Those were the Patriarch's exact words,” Max replied calmly. “From now onward, other than you thirteen vampire princes, I have the authority to deploy any of the elites from the other clans.”
Naturally, that riled Vivien up. “Who do you think you are, Max? What gives you the right to direct our subordinates?”
Even though the other princes said nothing, it was clear from their cold-eyed stares that they were on the same page as her.
Max, however, remained unfazed. “That's the power the Patriarch has bestowed on me. If any of you refuse to accept it, feel free to raise your objections to him.”
Lux turned to Lyanna, who quietly nodded, proving that everything Max had said was true.
As much as he hated it, Lux had no choice but to hide his displeasure. After all, no one in their right mind would dare go against the almighty leader. “Since it's the Patriarch's orders, we'll do as he says.”
“The Patriarch has also given specific instructions regarding the Four Human Spirits. They have to be Maisy for the yellow human spirit, Hallie for the black human spirit, Viva for the white human spirit, and Anna for the brown human spirit,” Max said. “They're in different countries, and while it won't be hard to capture the latter three, the same can't be said for Maisy. She's in Eurasia, also known as God's Forbidden Zone. Well then, which one of you would like to bring Maisy Woods back?”
“Oh? Don't you know Eurasia like the back of your hand, Max?” Lux asked with deliberate calm. “Shouldn't you volunteer for the mission?”
