Upon hearing this, the vampire princes at the scene immediately started voicing out, suggesting that they needed to select new candidates to fill the vacant positions left by the deaths of Lux and Vivien.
Herod calmly said, “Granted. Let Lambert and Gerart, the two dukes, take their places and become the new vampire princes.”
Everyone agreed by replying, “Yes, Patriarch Herod.”
Shortly after, in the main hall on the first floor, Lambert and Gerart, the two vampire dukes, were informed of their promotion to vampire princes. Both of them were excited and overjoyed.
One of them let out a loud roar of excitement while the other grabbed a nearby mortal maid, bared his fangs, and quickly sucked her blood, leaving her as a lifeless corpse.
After their excitement died down, they quickly went to the conference room on the second floor to express their gratitude to Herod and officially enter the core of the vampire clan. They sat down at the conference table and participated in the senior-level vampire meeting.
Just like that, the vacant positions had been filled.
Herod then spoke in a low voice to his fourteen most trusted subordinates. “The humans have united and surrounded us in this vampire-occupied territory, severing our chances for expansion. They are currently surrounding us, but their next move may be to destroy us. Therefore, we must break through the current situation. No breakthrough, no progress.”
He continued, “I am prepared to concentrate our forces and engage in a major battle with the humans. It'll be a hard fight. If we succeed, the vampires will rise like a dragon from the abyss and sweep across the globe. If we fail, the vampires will fall and may even be exterminated.”
The vampire princes at the scene were all high-spirited. They collectively said, “We are willing to fight for the rise of vampires, and your will is our spearhead, Patriarch Herod!”
Herod was pleased with their attitude and nodded slightly, saying, “I am pleased to see your high morale.”
Max asked loudly, “Patriarch Herod, when do we gather our forces, where do we strike the human defenses, and when do we act? I am willing to lead the vanguard.”
Herod replied, “This matter concerns the life and death of our vampire race, so we cannot rush it. We must keep it secret, and any leaks could lead to our defeat. We are going to have an unprecedented war with humans, so this matter must not be leaked in advance. We cannot allow humans to prepare for it. You must secretly gather the elite forces of all vampire tribes and their bondslave troops.”
Max and the other princes all shouted in unison, “Yes!”
Herod continued, “I have already observed the celestial phenomena at night and combined them with ancient divination techniques. In one month, the day of the start of the Mercury retrograde will arrive. The retrograde will affect humans to some extent, but it will have no effect on us vampires. I plan to conduct a grand sacrifice using the lives and blood of one million humans at the beginning of the Mercury retrograde, creating a dark canopy.”
He continued, “During the twenty or so days of the Mercury retrograde, the earth will be permanently shrouded in darkness. Even human satellites and communication devices will fail under the dark canopy.”
He added, “At that time, it will be the stage for our vampire performance. We'll defeat the War God troop, which is the most elite unit of the human alliance, and then continue our conquest in conquering the world.”
Max and the other princes were excited after hearing Herod's plan and shouted, “Patriarch Herod, you're the wisest!”
