When Sevan and the others returned to the peak of God's Palm, Nathan was playing chess with Hepburn while Colin was brewing tea using a red clay stove nearby.
“Sevan, you guys are back.”
Nathan was delighted to see Sevan back safely. He put down the chess piece he was about to play, stood up, and walked toward Sevan to greet him. Nathan was about to greet everyone with a job well done when his face fell on Sevan's pale face and the faint hint of crimson in his eyes. Nathan's eyes widened, and he exclaimed, “Sevan, what happened to you?” Hong Qi forced a smile.
“I'm fine, Mr. Cross”
Tears immediately filled Trinity's eyes as he choked, “Mr. Sevan was harmed by Gregg. He deliberately injected a drop of ancestral blood into Mr. Sevan's body, turning him into a vampire, all to get under your skin, Chief Cross.”
Quarta added angrily, “Chief Cross, we must seek justice for Mr. Seven and kill this brute.”
Nathan's face darkened, and his eyes gradually filled with immense guilt. He uttered slowly, “It's my fault for dragging you into this. If I hadn't sent you as an envoy, you wouldn't have encountered this disaster...”
Sevan interrupted. “How can I blame you for this, Mr. Cross?”
When I lost my mind and was imprisoned by evildoers aboard the Ghost Ship, if it wasn't for you, who rescued me and gradually helped me regain my sanity and memories, I'm afraid I would still be a soulless walking corpse. I can never repay your kindness in this lifetime. I always thought I would spend my life by your side, serving loyally in whatever you asked me to do. But I never expected something like this to happen. Fortunately, Trinity, Quarta, and I have completed our mission for this trip. We have not let you down. After I finish reporting my work, if possible, I will leave on my own. Since I've become a vampire, I'm unsuitable to stay by your side. It will cause others to criticize you and leave you a bad name.”
