Before the Curia's Top Three Shadow Guards could arrive, the leader of the Ten Elders of the Curia's Council of Elders, Baccio, showed up.
After hastily bowing to Eugene IV, Baccio anxiously said, “Pope Eugene, there's a serious problem.”
Looking at Baccio, Eugene IV slowly asked, “Baccio, have you heard any news?”
Baccio's expression shifted to one of shock, and he shook his head in disbelief. “No, it's not as simple as that. During my regular monthly divination sessions to discern the Curia's fortunes, I encountered an alarming revelation. The divination pointed toward an ominous fate. Furthermore, I have deduced that something untoward has transpired concerning the Holy Maiden of the Curia.”
Eugene IV's face turned serious upon hearing this. “Baccio, what have you found?”
Baccio unveiled a truly shocking revelation. “The divination has yielded an unexpected outcome, indicating the emergence of a Fallen Angel, destined to inhabit the Holy Maiden. I have come here explicitly to relay this information. The Holy Maiden is potentially in grave peril, at risk of dying and transforming into a malevolent being.”
Eugene IV's face dramatically changed. “Are you saying that Hepburn has been tainted by the dark clans and became one of them?”
Baccio nodded solemnly. “Yes, and my divination results suggest that she might become a vampire.”
Eugene IV's countenance turned notably somber as he uttered slowly, “Disturbing news has reached me regarding the unfortunate circumstances faced by Havik and Hepburn in Aploth. Havik audaciously breached the fortified confines of Cross Group's research base, causing widespread chaos and unfurling a horrifying bloodbath, only to meet his demise at the hands of Nathan. Meanwhile, Hepburn fell prey to a sudden assault orchestrated by secret agents from Ariarica, leaving her fate shrouded in uncertainty.”
Upon hearing this, Baccio said, “I fear the situation extends beyond a mere abduction orchestrated by Ariarican secret agents!”
Eugene IV exclaimed in shock, “Are you suggesting that it's likely related to Nathan?”
Baccio solemnly nodded. “There are rumors outside now claiming Nathan is the new vampire king. Hepburn's abduction occurred while she was testing Nathan. While the involvement of Ariarican secret agents cannot be discounted, we cannot dismiss any connection to Nathan. Moreover, the fact that Hepburn herself has turned into a vampire adds weight to the speculations surrounding Nathan's alleged role as the vampire king.”
With that, Baccio looked at Eugene IV. “Pope Eugene, we are on good terms with Nathan recently. If he is really the vampire king, how should the Curia respond?”
