While Nathan remained in a daze, the sound of wind breaking resonated from behind.
Without turning his head, the man twisted his body and launched himself high into the air with a powerful kick, like a long spear piercing the sky.
The one who had ambushed him was none other than Helios.
However, the latter hadn't expected Nathan to react so quickly, so his surprise attack brought him no advantage.
Instead, Nathan countered with a kick.
The impact was so strong that Helios flew backward before crashing onto the ground.
Unable to hold back, he let out a retch, vomiting another mouthful of blue blood.
Under the crowd's watchful eyes, his head transformed into that of an octopus-looking creature too.
Thud, thud, thud.
Colin, the Elite Eight, Lyanna, and Hepburn rushed over to Nathan's side right away.
Everyone was stupefied as they eyed the two Demigods who, now gravely injured, had revealed their true selves.
“What on earth is this?” Colin asked in disbelief.
Faraway, a large number of military vehicles appeared as a response to the attack on Zero Prison.
Brimmopolis' Capital Garrison troops were now here to provide support.
“Hurry! Surround the area! Don't let any prisoner or intruder escape!”
As the troops surrounded the scene, Nathan was the first to snap back to reality.
Just as he was about to speak, Colin's military phone started to ring incessantly.
The latter's expression took a turn.
This phone was a military emergency contact device only to be used in the event of a serious and unexpected incident.
He hastily answered the call.
It was Sage Tomlinson from the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor.
Nathan held the phone tightly, his face tense as he awaited an update.
Alas, news that the surface-to-air missiles had destroyed the unidentified flying object never came.
Instead, he received a different update from Sage. “The unidentified flying object escaped, Chief! It was so fast that our missiles couldn't catch up, and neither could our jets. It's gone!”
Not far away, the two Demigods lying on the ground let out a sigh of relief.
They both understood that the unidentified flying object was their autonomously piloted spaceship.
The ship must have detected that they were in danger through their communication devices and attempted to rescue them.
Unfortunately, the humans' anti-aircraft system had discovered it and even went as far as to drive it back with missiles.
The spaceship was highly intelligent; if it determined that it couldn't save its owners, it would make its way back to the Divine Realm immediately.
Helios and Lunar exchanged glances.
As long as the spaceship returned to the Divine Realm, their companions would learn that something had gone wrong and come to their rescue.
