Jericho's words were no doubt a threat. The entire family's expression changed.
Until now, Leah had not received a warm welcome when she brought her family here.
They could tolerate Butch's and Sasha's indifference, but none of them could take Jericho's threat lying down.
Penny and Nathan were livid, and even the amiable and down-to-earth Benson was ready to flare up and argue with Jericho.
However, Leah grabbed her husband's hand with tears in her eyes.
She signaled to Benson that she did not want to cause trouble during her father's birthday and to let matters rest.
Benson held it in, but he was shaking with anger.
Nathan could tell that Leah did not want to make a fuss during the celebrations. He did not want to put Leah in a tight spot, so he simply glared at Jericho.
When Jericho saw that Nathan was glaring at him, he was displeased.
Damn it! How dare this street rat stare at me like that in Arlington? He must be tired of living!
Nathan turned away from Jericho and ignored him.
When he saw Benson shaking with rage, he took a packet of Marlboro cigarettes out and offered them to Benson. "Dad, don't trouble yourself with such a clown. Here, have some cigarettes to cool off."
Clown? Jericho nearly burst out in rage upon hearing that.
His eyes narrowed and he spat unkindly, "Brat, I know you're Benson and Leah's son-in-law. I even heard from the Tonkins that you're a pathetic excuse of a man who depends on his wife for a living. Hey, scoundrel, I can understand why you want to suck up to your in-laws, but offending me was a mistake. I have a hundred ways to dispose of trash like you, so you'd better watch out. Don't play with your life."
Jericho's words made everyone turn pale except Nathan.
Jericho felt smug seeing that his words had shocked the others.
He added, "By the way, your cigarettes are just as trash as you are!"
As he said that, he raised a hand and slapped Nathan's face.
When Penny saw that, she knew that it was all over.
As expected, Jericho did not manage to hit Nathan.
Before his hand could land, Nathan had already snorted and grabbed Jericho's hand with his left hand.
Jericho's eyes widened in shock.
