SAVED BY THE LYCAN KING (Elisa) novel Chapter 34

ELISE'S POV

I spent my day doing the chores I had been assigned. It seemed as if I was given a larger share of the chores and I didn't know why. I guess it was Gina's way of punishing me and Ms Kelly's way of making sure I stayed in my space. As I worked, my muscles ached with exhaustion. I had been working since morning with no break.

Finally, I found a moment of peace when I had finished. I went to my room and laid on the hard metal bed. It wasn't comfortable in the slightest but at least, I could rest a bit now. The room was so little and so dark that it made it almost impossible to find solitude here but I had no other choice. After all, it was better than standing on my tired legs.

I closed my eyes, letting the quiet of the room envelop me. The sounds of the house—the clinking of cutlery, the murmurs of conversation from the other maids, the occasional shout from the guards—faded into the background. My mind began to wander. Soon enough, I found myself dreaming of the past.

In my dreams, I saw my childhood home. I grew up in a palace. My parents ruled peacefully as Alpha and Luna. I was a young child who was do full of life and joy. I was always happy.

My childhood was a different world, one of golden afternoons and laughter. I smiled as I remembered how my parents would throw parties for my birthday.

I remembered a particular birthday of mine. It was one to remember. It was the happiest day of my life. I remembered the way my mother’s eyes sparkled as she watched me unwrap my gifts. In that moment, I realized how much I missed her smile. I couldn't remember the last time my mother smiled at me.

My friends' laughter echoed through the halls. I had been so excited, running from room to room to see what was going on.

And then there was Jackson. I could picture him so clearly. He was a handsome boy with shiny brown hair and a mischievous grin that was always plastered to his face. He was so charming. fade. I recalled how he came to me, holding a small wrapped box.

“Happy birthday, Elise,” he had said.

I unwrapped the gift with eager fingers. Inside, was a ballerina box. When I rolled the lever, the ballerina started dancing. I looked at it in awe.

“It’s beautiful, Jackson,” I had whispered.

His grin widened "I’m glad you like it. I saw it when I travelled abroad with my parents. As soon as I saw it, I thought of you"
