Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 1842

Hayden shook hands with Kevin and asked him to take a seat again.

The secretary went to the desk and brought over the unfinished cup of coffee and gently put it in front of Hayden. He said respectfully, “Mr. Queen, I’ll go out to do some work first.”

Hayden nodded.

After the secretary left, Hayden looked at Kevin. The two of them looked at each other probingly.

“Mr. York, did you buy a house already?”

Hayden took the initiative to start the conversation. She asked in concern, but her attitude was still distant and indifferent.

She did not know why Kevin suddenly came to her office to look for her. The two of them did not have a friendship. Strictly speaking, they were even business rivals.

Hayden could not figure out Kevin’s reason for coming over, but she did not ask him bluntly. Instead, she talked about his house. Otherwise, it would be very awkward for them to just stare at each other.

“Yup.”

Kevin retracted his gaze and stopped looking at Hayden.

He picked up the glass of warm water that the secretary poured for him, took a sip, and put down the glass.

Kevin said with a smile, “Mr. Queen, it’s all thanks to you that I got to buy a house in Lake Edge. To express my thanks, I would like to invite you to lunch. Do you have time this noon?”

“I didn’t do you any favors. You’re being too courteous. I have an appointment during lunch.”

Hayden declined Kevin’s invitation.

Hayden did not want to be enemies with Kevin, nor did she want to be friends with him. Thus, it was best to keep him at arm’s length.

“Sure! Tomorrow it is. I’ll treat you to a meal. Do you mind dining at Fortress Hotel? If so, I can go to your hotel.”

Hayden said, “You can decide. I don’t mind. I can eat wherever.”

“Mr. Queen, you probably haven’t dined at my hotel yet, right?”

Hayden was silent for a few seconds before she replied, “I’ve dined there a few times.”

However, she kept a low profile so that no one would recognize her.

Hayden dined at Fortress Hotel mainly to see if the decor, service, and food were good.
