“Me too. I’ll like it whether it’s a girl or a boy. Of course, I’ll be happier if we have a girl.”
Zachary grinned and watched his wife finish the spicy fries.
After saying that, he felt like his words would make Serenity feel pressured to have a daughter, so he quickly added, “Seren, you don’t have to feel pressured to have a daughter. Both Nana and my mom didn’t get girls like they wanted.
“Since they failed to have a daughter, they have no right to pressure you.”
Serenity laughed. “I’m not pressured. The elders in your family aren’t picky either. They’re happy enough that I can give you a baby.”
She did not get pregnant for a year after they married.
Everyone was worried that she was sterile.
The York family went from wanting her to give birth to a daughter to just getting pregnant.
Now that she was pregnant, it meant that the young couple was healthy. The elders were very happy with that and would not be picky about the baby’s sex.
Zachary also laughed, thinking that what she said made sense.
Serenity put down the plate, and Zachary asked, “Do you want seconds?”
“I can eat more, but it’s getting late now. I won’t be able to sleep if I eat too much, so I’ll pass. I’ll come back tomorrow to eat. I like the sauerkraut here.”
Zachary said indulgently, “I’ll cook it for you tomorrow.”
“Great.”
If he wanted to cook, Serenity would not stop him.
After settling the bill, the couple walked out of the restaurant hand-in-hand.
Zachary asked, “Do you want to go for a night ride?”
