Whenever her family butchered a chicken, she only ate the chicken thighs and wingettes. She would not eat the other parts.
“Young mothers these days rarely experience nutrient deficiencies after giving birth. In the past, I could only eat a few chickens in the month after I gave birth. I wasn’t as fortunate as you are right now. You bought so many things back again too. I’ve said not to buy anything. It’s a waste of money, and your dad and I can’t finish them.”
Mrs. Sox scolded her daughter for buying gifts again.
Despite saying so, she still took the bags from her daughter’s hand. She was worried it would tire her daughter out.
After entering the house, Carlson went into the kitchen and took out extra sets of plates and cutleries.
The two bodyguards had their lunch there too.
They knew the Soxes never put on airs and were not particular about rules. If they did not sit and have lunch together, Mr. Bucham’s father-in-law would get angry too.
“Is there bread, Mom? I want to have a sandwich.”
Jasmine spotted her mom’s homemade pickles on the dining table. She sat and told her mom, “I’m craving bread and pickles.”
She could never eat those things in her in-laws’ house.
The dietician did not allow her to eat pickles.
Her mother-in-law also said she had to cut down on preserved food.
Therefore, Jasmine’s family never included any homemade preserved food in the things they would send over to her.
“I baked some bread this morning. I’ll toast it now if you want some.”
Mrs. Sox glanced at her son-in-law as she spoke.
Her daughter had married into a wealthy family. Although her son-in-law was nice, she was worried he would dislike the food.
Mrs. Sox knew her daughter’s three meals in her in-laws’ house were arranged by a dietician.
Everything Jasmine ate was of high quality.
Mrs. Sox did not have to cook for Jasmine whenever she worked at the bookstore either. Her son-in-law or his parents would arrange for someone to deliver food to Jasmine.
Josh knew what his mother-in-law was thinking. He smiled and said, “Mom, I want a sandwich with pickles like Jasmine. The weather’s so hot that I don’t want to eat a heavy meal. I just want a light sandwich.”
