Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2218

How could Caroline possibly ditch the client for Celine at a time like this?

Even if she did not need to meet a client, Caroline would not pick Celine up. The phony had occupied everything that was hers, and now that the truth was out, Celine never once apologized to Caroline. In fact, Celine pushed her around, so why should she fetch Celine from Queen Enterprise?

“Who called you?” asked Madam Fisher tenderly as she noticed her daughter answering a call and promptly hanging up without a word.

“It was Celine.”

“What does she want now? Why did she call you?”

The mother and daughter walked into the hotel.

“She said her car is broken and ordered me to pick her up right away.”

Caroline kept her tone flat. “Mom, I can’t possibly leave now to fetch her. I have a valid reason if she goes complaining to you.”

Looking upset, Madam Fisher said, “Got it. I will talk to her if she comes to me. She does nothing all day long. You have to work, and we’re meeting an important client now. You have been dealing with the client. How could you possibly leave your client to pick her up? The chauffeur, her dad, and her sisters-in-law are at home. She could’ve gotten anyone else to do the pick-up. Yet, she asked you.”

Madam Fisher was not pleased with her adopted daughter and was aware that Celine was giving Caroline trouble.

“Don’t worry, Carol. I’m on your side for this. Don’t let Celine get to your head. It’s a big mistake in business to bring your emotions to see the client.”

Caroline hummed a response. “I know, Mom.”

Madam Fisher gave Caroline a lingering look.

Her daughter had been unenthusiastic about her and had nothing much in common to talk about with her. Still, she was lucky that Caroline caught on to her intention of giving Caroline the cold shoulder.

A bunch of people were happy with Madam Fisher’s differential treatment toward her daughters—the biological daughter got the stick while the adopted daughter got the carrot. They even instigated Celine to compete and fight with Caroline.

These people were motivated by their selfish ambitions.

Madam Fisher’s age made it difficult for her to keep up with the family and business affairs. Besides, even though she had given birth to her unscrupulous children, she was reluctant to unleash her past cruelty onto her sons.

Hence, she did not do a thing.

Instead, she left her sons in Caroline’s hands and they could serve as practice.
