Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2407

“They’re also trying to get our remaining pension. The house we’re living in now belonged to Scott and his wife. We were only able to secure this place to stay because we’re Scott’s parents.

“Although our children have been providing us with some living expenses every month, that’s actually the rent that Serenity requested them to pay. Without Serenity’s enforcement, they wouldn’t even give us a single penny. Ultimately, we’re just relying on Serenity and Liberty.

“We’re old. We have to accept our fate and be realistic. Let’s stop making pointless struggles.”

Old Mrs. Hunt wanted to refute him, yet she could not find any words. What Old Mr. Hunt said was true.

“Don’t blame Liberty and Serenity for being cruel. What we did to them ten years ago was worse. Why were we so ruthless back then? They’re our granddaughters after all. Scott and Lisa passed away, leaving their daughters behind. How did we bring ourselves to chase them out and seize their inheritance?”

As Old Mr. Hunt spoke, he wiped tears of regret from his eyes.

“Stop listening to our children. Let’s just stay put and not cause any trouble for the sisters. As time passes, their hatred might lessen. Serenity might even hire a caregiver for us when we can no longer move around if we behave.

“Anyway, I’ve seen through our children and grandchildren back when Serenity and Liberty came back for this house. I lost all hope in them. We’re bound to be abandoned when we get older.

“Let’s hope our children don’t get treated the same way when they’re old.”

Old Mrs. Hunt sighed upon listening to her husband’s words. “Okay. I’ll listen to you. I never thought the grandchildren we disliked and neglected would be living the best life out of all of us.

“Do you think Serenity will invite the Howdens?”

The Howdens were their in-laws, Lisa’s adoptive family.

Old Mr. Hunt shook his head. “No. When I learned about Serenity's wedding, I looked into the Howdens’ situation. I know she didn’t invite them.

“The Howdens didn’t support, accept, nor take in Liberty and Serenity back then. They even took a share of the compensation for themselves. Do you think the sisters won’t hold a grudge against them? They were simply letting it slide because the Howdens had raised their mother.

“After knowing that Serenity had married into a wealthy family, the Howdens were also clever enough not to disturb her. That was how they could continue living a peaceful life.
