Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2645

Caroline stuffed the ice pack she brought into Hunter’s hands for him to place on his face back in his room.

He took it and hurried upstairs.

Belinda and Caroline were the only ones left in the living room.

Caroline sat beside her mother and comforted her. “Dad knows he’s wrong, Mom. He’ll never do it again. Don’t be sad.”

Belinda sighed. She said, “Your dad must have a lot to say about me, but he doesn’t dare to resist me out of fear of my power. While we may look like a loving couple to the public, I know better.”

“Since you’re aware of it, why did you choose to continue the marriage?”

After a moment of silence, Belinda said, “Your dad is easy to control. He has no future, and his family relies on the Fishers to survive. He has to think for their future.

“I also have to take you and your siblings into consideration. As long as Hunter doesn’t make any major mistakes, I won’t divorce him.

“I thought he wouldn’t be able to do anything so long I didn’t give him money, but I overlooked that your brothers would help him.”

Caroline said, “They won’t give Dad money again after you've warned them. I think Dad will resent you more.”

“So what? He should’ve been prepared for this the day he chose wealth and married into the Fisher family. He could never make any decisions in this family. Carol, you should also look for a man with weaknesses like your dad in the future.

“Don’t even think about marrying a capable man like Mr. Queen. That kind of man would never be a live-in son-in-law for the women of Fishers.”

“A man like your dad can be controlled easily. He thinks he’ll have more power once his daughter becomes the matriarch. Ha, he can dream on. He can never achieve more so long as I’m alive. I’ll kill him before I leave this world too. I won’t let him manipulate you just because he’s your father.”

Caroline had guessed that the previous matriarch had died in Belinda’s hands. She knew her mom was a ruthless person, but she was still shocked when she heard the words with her own ears.
