Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2694

Carrie’s face instantly turned ugly.

“Mr. Longbottom, are you asking me to be your mistress?”

She was only twenty years old, young and beautiful. With her background, marrying into a wealthy family and becoming a young missus was entirely feasible.

This older man, even if well-preserved, should be around her father’s age, and yet he wanted her as his mistress!

It was like an old man preying on a young girl.

Mr. Longbottom chuckled. “Ms. Carrie, you lack special skills and are unwilling to bow down to reality, to work for a monthly income of a few thousand dollars. Tell me, how will you live? Relying on your brother’s monthly allowance of five thousand dollars for your living expenses?”

Carrie was shocked.

How did this man know about her conversation with Trenton?

Did he have someone watching her, tracking her every encounter, every person she met, and the words she spoke?

That would be terrifying.

Even Zachary would not be able to achieve such a level of surveillance.

“Besides being a little more attractive, young, and having a good figure, what else do you have?”

Mr. Longbottom’s gaze remained audacious as he looked at Carrie.

Carrie began to understand. The way Mr. Longbottom looked at her suggested that he regarded her as his mistress, his plaything. No wonder his offers were generous—a villa, a new car, and a monthly allowance of three hundred thousand—yet required her body in exchange.

Camryn was the missus of the York family, while she had to be someone else’s mistress. She found the stark contrast unacceptable.

If the man wanted to make her his wife, she would have considered it.

Being someone’s mistress was where she drew the line.

Perhaps she would have found it tolerable if the man was younger and as handsome as the young masters of the Yorks.

Mr. Longbottom chuckled. “I’ve offered you so many benefits, yet I feel like I’m not getting substantial returns from you. It seems a bit unfair to me.”

Carrie placed the bag on the coffee table and said, “Well, I’m sorry, Mr. Longbottom. Seems like we can’t come to an agreement. Please find someone else.”
