Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 2979

“Zack, it’s late and you’ve been working the whole day too. You should head to bed. I’ll head home too.”

Austin prepared to leave after talking it out with Zachary.

Zachary said, “It’s already so late. Why don’t you just stay the night? It’s not like I don’t have a room for you.”

Austin politely declined. “It’s not far for me and you might have a room here, but I don’t have clothes to change into.

“Plus, it’s hard for me to fall asleep anywhere other than on my own bed.”

He needed time to adapt to new places whenever he moved.

People who were used to their beds would toss and turn constantly when they were in an unfamiliar place.

Zachary recalled that Austin’s private villa was not far away. Since Austin mentioned having sleeping difficulty on foreign beds and no fresh clothes, Zachary did not insist on him staying. Instead, he only reminded Austin to not drive too fast and to text him once he got home.

“Good night, Zack.”

Zachary did not get up to walk him out.

Once Austin left, Zachary drank half a glass of water and sniffed himself. He could still smell alcohol on himself.

Afraid that the smell would affect his wife and that he would wake Serenity if he returned to the room right, Zachary decided to make do in the study for the night.

He went upstairs and walked up to his room door, but did not enter. He stood there for a silent moment before turning to enter his study.

Serenity slept until early morning. Then, she woke up to use the bathroom.

Before she turned in for the night, she had a glass of milk, which made her need to get up in the middle of the night.

After coming out of the bathroom, she felt much more awake.

It was only then that she realized her husband had not returned.

Serenity walked back to her bed and sat down. Picking her phone up from the bedside table to check the time, she saw that it was already three in the morning.

Was Zachary not back yet?

He had not even texted her to tell her when he would be back.

She called him.

He only picked up after a long while.

“Babe, are you not back yet?”
