However, Serenity was still suspicious because she had not seen Mrs. Longbottom and Carrie appear at the same time.
Her suspicions of Carrie pretending to be Mrs. Longbottom would not be cleared unless she saw the two women together.
Carrie did not wait for Serenity to return.
Since they met by coincidence, it would look intentional if she were to wait for Serenity.
It would be suspicious as well.
Mr. Longbottom had told Carrie that Serenity was investigating her.
Of course, nothing useful was found.
Serenity suspected that she was Carrie.
Carrie thought of Camryn, whom she hated the most. Camryn was familiar with her voice. Serenity most likely only investigated her because Camryn had told Serenity something.
Luckily, Mr. Longbottom was capable.
Serenity could not discover anything.
Everything she found was fake information that Mr. Longbottom had created for Carrie.
They knew that Serenity and Jasmine were best friends; Jasmine being the missus of the Buchams, and that the family had a vast intelligence network.
Serenity most likely had the Buchams’ help in her investigation.
Despite that, they found no evidence revealing “Mrs. Longbottom” as Carrie.
Carrie was relieved. When she met Serenity again, she started acting more naturally.
It looked as if she was the true Mrs. Longbottom, who had no grudges against Serenity at all.
Mr. Longbottom also told Carrie about a banquet happening tomorrow night. He asked her to bring two bodyguards along and show up as Mrs. Longbottom.
The banquet would be attended by the ladies of Wiltspoon’s high society.
Rosella would also be present at the banquet with Camryn.
Ever since Camryn took over the Newman family, she had left an impression on WIltspoon’s high society. She only got more popular after becoming the York family’s second missus.
Working in business meant she would have to interact with many other heads of companies; socializing was inevitable.
It did not matter that her father was dead while her mother was in prison because the York family was more than willing to dote on her like one of their own.
After all, the Yorks were a protective bunch.
Ever since Tania had scolded a lady who complained about Serenity over the phone, the high society got the message that they had to show the York family's daughters-in-law respect regardless of their background.
Criticizing any of the ladies was to be avoided at all costs.
“Bye, Aunt Ser.”
Serenity passed Sonny to a teacher. As the teacher led Sonny into the school, he turned his head and waved at Serenity.
“Remember my luggage, Aunt Ser.”
Sonny worried that Serenity would get too busy with work and forget to hand over his luggage to Duncan.
Duncan would be fetching the little guy from the preschool that evening before flying to Jensburg right away.
