Apart from the employees and the bodyguards, Caroline was the only person left at home.

Her mother, brothers, and sisters-in-law had all left.

Caroline could not be bothered to ask where they had gone either.

After showering and putting on a thick jacket, Caroline left her room and headed downstairs as she made a call to Liberty.

Liberty soon picked up.

“Are you free for lunch, Liberty?” Caroline asked with a bright smile.

Without waiting for Liberty’s answer, she continued, “I heard Mr. Lewis came to visit you with Sonny. I kind of miss Sonny too, so I want to treat you guys to lunch. You can’t say no.

“I’ve already asked Mr. Fletcher to book a table for us at Fortress Hotel. See you at noon!”

Liberty laughed. “Are you even asking? It’s more like you’re notifying me.”

“Are you going to say no? I’m your elder, you know. It’s rude to refuse when an elder is buying you lunch.”

Liberty was speechless for a moment. “I never said I was going to say no. We were planning to have lunch at the hotel in the first place. Since you’re treating us, we’ll gladly take you up on your offer.”

“Where did you go in the morning?

“I got back very late last night. I only just got up and haven’t had time to play with Sonny. After lunch, I’ll have to spend some quality time with him. When’s the father-son duo heading back to Wiltspoon?”

Liberty could not help but correct her. “Caroline, Duncan and I aren’t married yet, you know.”

“Isn’t that just a question of when rather than if? Are you planning to change your mind and not marry Duncan?

“All I know is Mr. Lewis treats Sonny really well as if he were his own. They’ve long been like a father and son.”

Liberty was at a loss for words for a moment before she replied, “You don’t even have a boyfriend yet, but you love nosing into others’ love lives. Hurry up and get a boyfriend so I have someone to call ‘uncle’.”

Caroline laughed. “You’ll probably never have one. I don’t want to get married. After some time, I’ll just find someone with good genes to be a sperm donor and have a daughter to be my successor.”

Liberty was once again struck speechless. “If your mom heard of this, she would vomit blood out of anger.”
