Imogen looked at Dylan’s message for a beat before replying. [I’m not sure yet. Why? Do you want to treat me to a meal? Or is it that you can’t bear to see me go?]
Dylan replied, [I want to treat you to a meal and talk to you again.]
Imogen asked, [About? Our future? Or have you decided to choose her? If you really have a girlfriend, let me meet her. I promise I won’t ever appear in your life again after that.”
She did want to fight for it, but if there was no hope, she would just give up. It was rare to find a good family like the Yorks, but Dylan had to like her and be willing to marry her in the first place for her to be a part of the family.
A few minutes passed before Dylan replied again. [I do have someone I really like, but we’re not in a relationship yet, so I can’t let you disturb her. We can talk about the issues slowly when we meet. Are you free tonight?]
[No.]
[Let me know when you’re free, then. I’ll treat you to a meal.]
After a moment of thought, Imogen replied, [I came to Wiltspoon to make things clear with you. I’ll head back in a few days since we pretty much understand each other now.]
She was already here anyway, so she was going to stay a few more days in Wiltspoon and treat it as a holiday. Once she returned to Huntington, she would have to throw herself back into work, where even rest was a luxury, let alone a holiday.
[Before I do, I’ll contact you to meet up.]
Although they did not work out, she did not want them to become enemies either. There was nothing to ruin the relationship over anyway.
If he did not like her, then he did not like her—it was fine as long as he did not cling to her like a stubborn piece of gum when he wanted to marry her in the future.
Meanwhile, in the Longbottoms’ residence, Carrie lay on the bed looking pale still, though much better than the day she had her abortion.
Mr. Longbottom had not wanted the child and wanted her to abort it. Luckily, he had arranged for good private medical care for her, so nothing went awry during her abortion. He even hired a nutritionist to prepare her meals.
It was important to take care of her health after such a procedure. She did not want to ruin her health because of it. She was still young, after all.
However, Carrie could not resist cursing Serenity and Camryn all day long as she endured the pain of abortion despite already giving up on the baby. She still felt that she had only ended up in this situation today because of them.
